ABI: iPad's Global Tablet Market Share of 85% in 2010

Market research company ABI research research report on April 20 said that in 2010 Apple iPad accounted for 85% of the global tablet PC market share. ABI noted that tablet PC demand is expected to stabilize in 2015 and 2016, but its demand is still quite strong in the coming years.

Jeff Orr, senior director of ABI practice, said in a statement: “We expect global tablet sales in 2011 to be between 40 million and 50 million.”

Samsung’s tablet PC market share is 8%, and Archos Tablet PC market share is 2%, ranking third.

Orr pointed out that Hewlett-Packard, Acer, Lenovo, RIM, Motorola and other companies are exploring differentiated products after entering the tablet PC market. Tablets with simple features and low prices will soon become popular.

Archos to attract tense users, launched in September 2010 5 Android Tablet PC, priced at 99 US dollars -349 US dollars, display size between 2.8-10.1 inches, providing Internet access, online games, high-definition video, electronic Book access, social networking and application services, configuration 1GHz processor.

Apple has proven that a large number of consumers and business users do not care about iPad prices. When Apple released its fiscal second-quarter earnings report on April 20, it stated that the company sold 4.7 million iPads in the quarter ending March 26. Peter Oppenheimer, chief financial officer of Apple, said: "Each iPad 2 produced in the second quarter has been sold out."

Although tablet PCs have not replaced PCs, PC sales have been affected. In March of this year, market research firm Gartner analysts downgraded PC shipment expectations for 2011 and 2012. This year, PC shipments are expected to decrease from the original increase of 15.9% to 10.5%; the 2012 forecast is reduced from 14.8% to 13.6%.
