There is a saying that the speaker will be placed horizontally and the sound will be better. This argument is unfounded. Although the near-field monitors in many studios and studio photos in this tutorial are horizontal, this does not mean that we believe their approach is correct.
The speaker should be placed horizontally or vertically, and the manufacturer has the most say. Scientific experiments show that the speakers of the two units are better placed vertically than horizontally.
First of all, placing the speakers vertically will increase the distance and angle from the mixer table, reduce the sound of the speakers reflected by the mixer's countertops, and reduce the "comb filtering" effect caused by this reflection. (It was originally a flat frequency response, but it became not straight). This is a scientific experiment that can be proved. As shown in the figure below, the gray curve in the frequency response curve is the frequency response curve of the speaker.
