For a long time, the EU is the main city for the export of lighting products in our county. According to incomplete statistics, in 2005, the lighting products of our county were exported to the EU market of about 15 million US dollars. However, with the implementation of the EU RoHS Directive on July 1, the export of lighting products such as grass lights, outdoor lights and small flashlights in our county will face great challenges. RoHS has become a copper wall in front of the lighting industry in our county. It is reported that the RoHS Directive is the Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment. The directive stipulates that from July 1, 2006, the ten major categories of electronic and electrical equipment put on the market, except for the radiotherapy devices in medical devices and the smoke alarms in monitoring devices, are limited in all other types of equipment. The content of six harmful substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. Once lead, mercury, etc. are excessive, these products will not be allowed to enter the EU. Currently, there are nearly 100 lighting export enterprises in our county. Among these companies, only a few lighting companies have conducted RoHS testing, and most companies are unable to pass the six harmful elements under the RoHS directive because of the process and materials. To add insult to injury, while the EU RoHS Directive is about to be implemented, Japan, the United States, etc. will also revise the energy efficiency standards for 15 categories of consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment such as lamps, commercial air conditioners and heating equipment. These standards will be revised. Implemented in 2008 and 2009 respectively. In the face of the current situation, the County Inspection and Quarantine Bureau recommended that the county's lighting export enterprises should first establish a sense of green environmental protection, and if they want to break through the green technical barriers, they must comply with this green trend. Second, we must strengthen the technological innovation of products. It is necessary to prepare early and extend the relevant work to raw materials and spare parts manufacturing enterprises to improve the production assembly process. Third, pay attention to key production control points. The key to the RoHS Directive is the full use of inorganic flame retardants through alternative raw materials and processes, such as the use of lead-free solder materials and lead-free soldering equipment. Therefore, the surface treatment process of hexavalent chromium-free Cr6+ snow should be considered, and lithium batteries and nickel-hydrogen batteries should be used instead of nickel-cadmium batteries to avoid the six harmful substances. Finally, we must pay attention to the upgrading of products and improve the high added value of product technology. We must consider the establishment and improvement of the entire lighting industry system from a long-term perspective.
