In the context of the rapid development and utilization of new energy, the photovoltaic industry in China has experienced significant growth. To secure these cells and ensure insulation, moisture resistance, and protection from air exposure, solar backsheet films play a crucial role in extending their service life. During the lamination process of photovoltaic modules, two layers of film are used to bond the solar cells with both the glass and the backsheet. One of these layers requires short-wave UV cutting. While the backsheet itself has some resistance to ultraviolet light in the 300–380 nm range, some materials may still yellow under UV exposure. This yellowing can damage the molecular structure of the backsheet layer, degrading its overall performance and reducing reflectivity, which negatively impacts the output of the entire module. As a result, measuring the yellowing value of the solar backsheet is essential for maintaining product quality. To test the yellowing value of the solar backsheet, the following steps are followed: Step 1: Prepare the standard and sample of the solar backsheet (Figure 3). Step 2: Turn on the CS-660 spectrophotometer and perform black and white calibration. Align the standard with the test hole and press the “Test” button after ensuring no light leakage. Once the measurement is complete, check the results (Figure 5). Step 3: After saving the standard measurement, navigate to the “Sample Measurement” interface, align the sample, and repeat the test procedure to obtain the yellowing value (Figure 7). Through these measurements, the yellowing value and differences between samples can be clearly visualized. This data provides a clear indication of product quality, meeting customer expectations and improving overall performance. By ensuring optimal sunlight absorption, the efficiency of photovoltaic modules is enhanced.
