Intel micro-architecture chips listed in the second half of the year

Intel micro-architecture chips listed in the second half of the year Today, Zhang Jian, product director of Intel’s client platform in China, revealed that chips using the Intel Silvermont microarchitecture will enter the market in the second half of 2013 or early 2014. Last week, Intel announced the new Silvermont microarchitecture, an architectural design based on Intel's 22nm Tri-Gate System-on-a-Chip process technology. Chips using the Silvermont microarchitecture have lower power consumption and are more powerful than previous Intel products.

Intel said that compared with its previous generation of Atom processor cores, the new architecture products have tripled their peak performance, and their power consumption has been reduced by about five times.

Zhang Jian said today that the chips using the Silvermont micro-architecture will be applicable to markets such as tablet PCs, smart phones, micro-servers, and network communications equipment. Specific products will enter the market in the second half of 2013 or early 2014. However, he declined to comment on the price of chips using this architecture.

According to reports, the latest Silvermont micro-architecture enables Intel chips to implement out-of-order execution functions, making application processing smoother. At the same time, the architecture also supports multi-core architectures that can scale up to 8 cores for higher performance.

Intel’s executive vice president and chief product officer, David Perlmutter, said on a few days ago that “Intel will speed up the replacement of this low-power microarchitecture once a year.”
