BCD introduces a variety of LED driver power solutions

Recently, BCD Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (BCD Semi) has launched a series of cost-effective solutions for small and medium power applications in response to the special requirements of LED driver power supplies.

High Power Factor, Low Harmonic Distortion LED Tube Solution - AP1682

The traditional 40W fluorescent tube can be replaced with an LED tube of about 20W. Therefore, compared with the conventional fluorescent lamp, the LED tube has obvious advantages in energy saving. T8 LED tubes have been used in offices, supermarkets, buses, warehouses, garages and more. T8 LEDs can be used as general lighting, display lighting or other applications.

For T-Light applications, some technical indicators are very important, such as total harmonic distortion (THD) and power factor (PF). Whether it is active or passive, T-Light drivers must meet certain specifications.

Using AP1682 to realize the T-LED driving scheme, it is possible to achieve the performance index of THD<10% and PF>0.95 under full input voltage without using other technical means.

Current T-LED solutions are available in both end-end and back-side versions, while the end-of-the-line design is more difficult because length, width and height are simultaneously limited. Because the AP1682 peripheral device is simple, the chip uses source-side control technology and active PFC correction, eliminating the need for complex system design, so the system is small in size, and the design in the picture is a terminal T-LED design.

The power factor correction technique and constant current output technology used by the AP1682 can be used in isolated and non-isolated topologies. The difference between the two solutions is the isolation of the transformer, so the drive design engineer can design on the same platform.

Medium and small power, low cost LED light solutions - AP1680/AP1686

AP1680/AP1686 is the most widely used small and medium power LED driver control chip. The AP1680/AP1686 adopts PSR control mode, eliminating the need for optocoupler feedback. The power device uses a triode drive, which greatly saves the cost of the system.

The AP1680/AP1686 meets the 5% requirements of the system with constant current output accuracy and built-in frequency jitter, which simplifies the system's EMI design. Use the same AP1680/AP1686 to form different system architectures to meet the requirements of isolation and non-isolation. The AP1680/AP1686 are available in a SOT23-6 package.

Medium and high power PFC correction chip - AP1662

The AP1662 is a classic active power factor correction chip. The AP1662 operates in a critical conduction mode with a 1% accurate voltage reference. The AP1662 has a 40uA startup current and a built-in totem pole output MOSFET drive with current capability up to 800 mA.

The chip protection function of the AP1662 is perfect, and the PIN pin of the IC handles the external impact, which improves the failure caused by chip damage during system production.
