In a major shift in the global display market, data released by IHS Markit on the 27th revealed that BOE, a leading Chinese panel manufacturer, has captured a 21.7% market share in China, overtaking LG Display to claim the top spot globally. This marks the first time since Q4 2009 that LG Display has fallen out of the number one position, signaling a significant turning point in the industry.

According to IHS analysis, large-size LCD panels will continue to grow rapidly before 2020, with annual output expected to exceed 20 million units.
Currently, the majority of large-panel production is concentrated in South Korea, Japan, mainland China, and Taiwan, accounting for over 80% of global capacity. As Japanese and Korean manufacturers gradually reduce their presence, Chinese panel makers are stepping in to fill the gap. This surge in domestic shipments is a crucial step toward dominating the global panel market.
Another image shows the expansion of BOE's capabilities beyond traditional LCDs. In addition to its success in the LCD market, BOE has also made significant strides in flexible OLED technology. Its sixth-generation flexible AMOLED line in Chengdu began mass production ahead of schedule, breaking the long-standing dominance of Korean manufacturers in this high-tech sector.
