Indonesian Submarine Optical Cable Transmission Capacity Increased

Indonesia has a 354-kilometer-long submarine cable. The JaSu Ka submarine cable between Dumai and Dangas is the key to the country’s international connections. Nokia Siemens Networks has already started upgrading and maintaining this submarine cable. Indonesia Telecom (PT Telkom) is the largest state-owned telecom operator in Indonesia. When it re-uses the submarine cable, its high-speed transmission rate has also begun to benefit the company.

Nokia Siemens Networks will provide fiber optic network equipment for this submarine cable to transmit the world's longest 40G network connection (without a mid-level system). At present, there are four 40G channels or light waves in the transmission of data. The maximum information carrying capacity of the network has exceeded 16 times.

This submarine cable transmits fixed or mobile voice and digital signals from PT Telkom and other major telecom operators in Indonesia. Most of these companies use Nokia Siemens Networks' smooth network architecture.

David Bangun, Executive General Manager of Indonesia's Telecommunication Infrastructure Department, said: "This project is part of our vision for the future.
