5G standard landing will create 984 billion US dollars of output for China

The world's first 5G standard has been announced, 5GNR, the new air interface, can solve the important link of the "last mile". It is reported that the 5G new air interface (NR) was officially frozen and released six months ahead of schedule. The landing of the 5G standard will bring a market of 984 billion US dollars to China.

In the case that 4G has not been fully covered, the 5G era has already flown towards us.

At the 78th plenary meeting of the International Telecommunication Standards Organization's 3GPP RAN, the world's first 5G new air interface (NR) non-independent network (NSA) standard was officially frozen and released, which was six months ahead of schedule.

In the process of standard setting, the participation and voice of Chinese operators and equipment vendors have improved. Wang Zhiqin, vice president of China Information and Communication Research Institute, said that China is located in the first echelon of the global 5G industry and is one of the chief designers of the standard. According to China Mobile, the company submitted more than 1,000 proposals for 3G air interface standardization to 3GPP, totaling more than 1.6 million words.

It is widely believed in the industry that the first version of the 5G international standard will be available, which means that the global 5G industry will start shooting. The industry predicts that after the publication of the standard, China will accelerate the 5G industrialization process. By 2030, 5G will drive China's total output of 16.9 trillion yuan and create 19.5 million jobs.

5G standard accelerated in June before the commercialization process

3GPP is the dominant party in the 5G standard. According to the reporter, 3GPP's early determination of 5G network standards is divided into three steps: completion and freezing of 5G technology requirements in March and June 2017; completion and freezing of the first version of commercially available 5G in June and September 2018 Standard; completed and frozen final version of the 5G standard in December 2019 and 2020.

Yan Huichen, an analyst at CITIC Construction Investment, said that 3GPP originally planned to launch the 5GNR standard for independent network construction in June 2018. However, under the demand of global operators and equipment vendors to accelerate the commercial deployment of 5G networks, 3GPP finally released this transitional solution - NSA 5GNR standard.

The NSA standard is a scheme for transitioning to a 5G base station based on the 4G core network. After the 5G standard is completely frozen, the 5G base station can be connected to the 5G core network.

5GNR, the new air interface, refers to the connection method of the new mobile phone and base station, which can be described as the “last mile” link of the 5G network.

Next, 3GPP plans to continue to study the design of the 5GNR underlying standards, which will be completed in June 2018 and frozen in September.

After the release of this standard, global operators and equipment vendors have said that they will accelerate the deployment of 5GNR. China Telecom and China Unicom also said that they plan to conduct 5G field testing in major cities in China in 2018 and prepare for the upcoming 5G commercial. According to the schedule of the three major operators, 5G commercial deployment will be realized in 2020.

5G commercial will create 984 billion US dollars of output for China and give birth to 6 major investment directions

The impact of commercial 5G networks is significant.

Qi Guohua, honorary chairman of the China Communications Standards Association and director of the Strategic Steering Committee, said that by 2035, 5G will generate 12.3 trillion US dollars of economic output globally, and the global 5G value chain output will reach 3.5 trillion US dollars, of which China is 984 billion US dollars. The 5G Security Requirements and Architecture White Paper issued by China Information and Communication Research Institute predicts that in 2030, 5G networks will create 19.5 million jobs for China.

Tianfeng Securities Research Report pointed out that there will be six major investment directions in the 5G era, including communication equipment; fiber optic cable industry; antenna field; small base station; network optimization.

In the future, the economic benefits brought by 5G commercial will be immeasurable.

The "5G Security Requirements and Architecture White Paper" issued by China Information and Communication Research Institute predicts that in 2030, 5G networks will drive China's total output of 16.9 trillion yuan, economic value added of 6.5 trillion yuan, and employment creation of 19.5 million.
