LED companies need to focus on improving product quality After more than ten years of development, China's LED lighting industry has made considerable progress. However, we should also note that many companies are currently caught in the blind pursuit of light efficiency. It is true that increasing the light efficiency will make the brightness higher, but we must know that lighting products rely on only one light efficiency index is not enough. Only fully satisfying the requirements of light, color, electricity, energy efficiency, and security is truly effective. Lighting, so we should emphasize the overall quality of LED lighting products.

At present, due to the substantial reduction in the price of chips, the cost of the light source that originally occupies the cost of lamps and lanterns is only 10% to 30% of the total cost, while other parts such as power supply and heat dissipation each account for 35% to 45%. As a lighting product, light sources occupy such a low cost structure is obviously worth our guard.

The fundamental reason is that because the chip price was too high, the high-power chip was as high as a few dollars. To save costs, the company uses as few chips as possible, and adopts a method of increasing the current to increase the power of the chip, thereby improving the light efficiency. However, the data shows that when operating at high current density, the lamp has low power supply voltage, large current, high power cost, low AC/DC conversion efficiency, high chip operating voltage, high temperature, low efficiency, and reliability. Deterioration, phosphor light-to-light conversion efficiency becomes lower. Therefore, using this scheme to manufacture LED lamps, the cost of power is high, and the cost of the heat-dissipating components is also high. At the same time, this is also the cause of the current LED lighting products often in the light of the reasons for the decline.

Now the price of high-power chips has dropped to a few cents, and the price of low-power chips is only a few cents. Enterprises have no need to follow the old road. If you work with a lower current density, the lamp can use a high-voltage, low-current, low-cost power supply. The AC/DC conversion efficiency is high, and the chip light emission efficiency is also high. At the same time, the operating voltage of the chip becomes smaller, the temperature becomes lower, and the efficiency becomes higher. The reliability becomes better and the phosphor light-to-light conversion efficiency becomes higher. Therefore, using this scheme to manufacture LED lamps, the power cost becomes lower, and the cost of the heat-dissipation member also becomes lower.

Of course, the current density becomes lower. To achieve the same luminous efficiency, more chips are needed. However, as the operating current density is reduced, the requirement for the number of quantum wells in the light-emitting layer of the chip is also reduced, and the manufacturing cost of the chip is also reduced. This is also a benign cycle. Therefore, this requires the coordinated development of the entire LED lighting industry chain, focusing on the smaller current density of the technical route, the appropriate use of more chips, reducing the lighting of the power and heat requirements. In this way, the luminous efficiency and reliability of the LED luminaire will be further improved while keeping the total manufacturing cost of the luminaire unchanged.
